The White Lucine, scientifically known as Loripes lacteus, is a species of bivalve mollusk. They are small, measuring up to 2.5 cm in length, and have a white shell with a glossy outer layer. They inhabit sandy or muddy bottoms in shallow coastal waters, often found burrowed in the substrate. They are filter feeders, filtering organic particles from the water column and symbiotic bacteria from the sediment.
