Wakame [Undaria pinnatifida]

Description
Undaria pinnatifida, commonly known as Wakame, is a cold water marine species. It is a brown seaweed, growing up to 3 meters in length. It is characterized by a large sporophyll at the base of the blade. Wakame is native to cold temperate coastal areas of Japan, Korea, and China. It has been introduced to New Zealand, Europe, and the Americas, where it is considered an invasive species. It is cultivated for human consumption in Japan and Korea.
