Thick Shell Blood Ark [Anadara brasiliana]

Description
The Thick Shell Blood Ark, or Anadara brasiliana, is a species of ark clam found in the western Atlantic Ocean, from North Carolina to Brazil, including the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. They inhabit sandy or muddy substrates, usually in estuaries or nearshore environments. They have a thick, strong shell and are known for their bright red blood, a feature shared by other members of the Anadara genus.
