Tessellated Cone Snail [Conus tessulatus]

Description

The Tessellated Cone Snail is characterized by its geometric, tessellated shell pattern, which varies between individuals but generally consists of dark brown or black lines and spots on a lighter background. It is found in the western Pacific Ocean, from Japan to the Philippines and Australia. It inhabits sandy or muddy substrates in shallow waters and feeds mainly on small marine invertebrates.
