Swallow-tailed Gull [Creagrus furcatus]
Description
The Swallow-tailed Gull is a unique species and the only member of the genus Creagrus. It is a nocturnal, pelagic bird that breeds on the Galapagos Islands. It has a distinct plumage, with a slate-grey body, white eye ring, and red bill and feet. It feeds mainly on squid and fish, and its behavior is adapted for a nocturnal lifestyle, with large eyes for better night vision. Its tail is deeply forked, giving the species its common name.
