Description
Staurotheca plicata is a marine hydroid species found in the northern Atlantic Ocean. It is recognized by its plicate (folded) structure, which gives the species its name. Like other species in the genus, Staurotheca plicata forms colonies with radially arranged hydrothecae. The species is primarily found in colder, deeper waters.
