Spotted lanternfish [Scopelopsis oculus]
Description
The Spotted lanternfish, or Scopelopsis oculus, is a species of lanternfish. It is found in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. It inhabits depths ranging from 200 to 1000 meters. The species is characterized by its small size, usually not exceeding 8 cm, and the presence of photophores. It has a dark color with silver spots, hence the common name.
