Description
The Splitfin flashlight fish, also known as the Twofin flashlightfish, is a small tropical species that can reach up to 35 cm in length. It is known for its large, tubular eyes and the bioluminescent light organ found beneath each eye. This species inhabits the Indian Ocean and Western Pacific, preferring the shelter of reefs and caves during the day and venturing out into open water at night. They use their bioluminescent light organs to communicate, navigate, and attract prey.
