Spiny globe sponge [Acanthascus ramosus]

Description
Acanthascus ramosus, or the spiny globe sponge, is a marine sponge species found in the Pacific Ocean. It is recognized by its round shape and the long, thin spines covering its surface. This sponge is usually a deep pink or red color. It lives at great depths, typically between 200 to 500 meters, and prefers rocky substrates. Like other sponges, the spiny globe sponge is a filter feeder, extracting nutrients from the water that it draws in through its pores.
