Sixgill Sawshark [Pristiophorus peroni]
Description
The Sixgill Sawshark is native to the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It lives on the continental shelf and upper continental slope at depths of 40 to 550 meters. It is distinguished by the presence of six pairs of gill slits, unlike other sawsharks which only have five. The Sixgill Sawshark feeds on fish, crustaceans, and squid.
