Sharpnose Mullet [Mugil liza]
Description
The Sharpnose Mullet is found in the Western Atlantic from Argentina to Florida and throughout the Caribbean. It inhabits coastal waters, estuaries, lagoons, and rivers. It is characterized by a torpedo-shaped body with a bluish-grey back and silvery sides. It feeds on detritus, small invertebrates, and algae. It is notable for its pointed snout, which differs from the blunt snouts of other mullet species.
