Saddleback Cardinalfish [Ostorhinchus sealei]
Description
The Saddleback Cardinalfish is a species of fish in the family Apogonidae. It is found in the Western Central Pacific. This species inhabits coastal reefs and lagoons and is often associated with sheltered coral reefs and rubble substrates. They are small in size, up to 7 cm in length, and have a distinguishing saddle-like black blotch on the caudal peduncle. They are nocturnal species and exhibit mouthbrooding behavior where males carry eggs in their mouths until they hatch.
