Reef Stonefish [Synanceia verrucosa]
Description
The Reef Stonefish is a solitary and slow-moving fish. It is the most venomous known fish in the world. It camouflages itself around rocks and coral in the shallow tropical marine waters of the Pacific and Indian oceans. This fish has a robust body, its skin is warty and often covered with algae and hydrozoans. It can grow up to 40 centimeters and has 13 sharp dorsal spines that are filled with venom.
