Red whelk [Neptunea antiqua]

Description
The Red whelk is a medium to large sea snail found in the North Atlantic Ocean. It prefers deep, cold waters. The shell is large, thick and sturdy, with a pointed spire and a large body whorl. The shell is often reddish-brown in color, but can also be orange or yellow. It feeds on other molluscs and carrion.
