Red Rag Sponge [Dragmacidon coccineum]

Description
The Red Rag Sponge, also known as Dragmacidon coccineum, is a variety of demosponge that thrives in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. It is most easily identified by its vibrant red coloration and its branching form, which can reach up to 1 meter in height. Its surface is rough with small, scattered oscules. The Red Rag Sponge is often found in subtidal zones attached to hard substrates, but it can also be found in tidal pools.
