Red handfish [Thymichthys politus]
Description
The Red handfish is a rare species of handfish in the family Brachionichthyidae. It is known for its bright red coloration and distinguished by its hand-like pectoral fins which it uses to walk along the sea floor. The species is currently endangered and known to inhabit only two small areas of reef in southeastern Tasmania.
