Description
The Queen Scallop, scientifically named Aequipecten opercularis, is a medium-sized species of scallop, an edible saltwater clam. It has a broad fan-shaped shell with 16-18 broad and radiating ribs. The shell size varies between 30-65mm. They are usually of sandy or muddy color to blend in with their environment. It is found in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, from Norway to the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean Sea.
