Port Jackson Shark [Heterodontus portusjacksoni]

Description

This species is a member of the family Heterodontidae, found off the southern coast of Australia, including the waters off Port Jackson. It is a nocturnal, bottom-dwelling species that is known for its distinctive pig-like snout, hence its common name. It has a diet that consists mainly of sea urchins, crustaceans, and molluscs. The Port Jackson Shark has a harness-like dark pattern over its back and sides, and blunt head with ridges over its eyes.
