Description
The Polynesian Storm Petrel is a medium-sized seabird with a blackish-brown plumage and a white rump. It has a length of about 25 cm and a wingspan of 58 cm. This species has a distinct flight pattern including glides and rapid wing beats. It is nocturnal, returning to its nesting colonies at night to avoid predation. It feeds on small fish and squid, which it catches from the surface of the water. The Polynesian Storm Petrel breeds on remote islands in the Pacific Ocean, nesting in crevices among rocks or in burrows in the ground.
