Description
The Pearly lanternfish, or Scopelopsis multipunctatus, is a species of lanternfish. They have a wide distribution in the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. They can be found at depths ranging from 200 to 1000 meters. The species is characterized by its small size, generally not exceeding 8 cm, and the presence of photophores (light-producing organs) arranged in a specific pattern on its body. Its color is generally silver or pearl-like, hence the common name.
