Palm Worm [Paralvinella palmiformis]

Description
This marine worm is found deep in the Pacific Ocean, near hydrothermal vents. They have a unique adaptation to tolerate high levels of hydrogen sulphide, extreme temperatures and low oxygen. They derive their name from their palm tree-like appearance, with a segmented body and tentacle-like structures on the head.
