Oriental sole [Brachirus orientalis]
Description
The Oriental sole is a species of sole that is native to the western Pacific Ocean. It is primarily found in shallow, coastal waters, where it buries itself in sandy or muddy substrates during the day and emerges at night to feed. It has a distinctively flat body and its dorsal and anal fins are continuous with its caudal fin. It is characterized by a small, terminal mouth and a lateral line that is straight and runs along the middle of the body.
