Northwestern Neodiaptomus [Neodiaptomus schmackeri]

Description
The Northwestern Neodiaptomus, or Neodiaptomus schmackeri, is a species of calanoid copepod found in freshwater environments in Asia, notably China and Japan. They are small, with a length of about 0.5-1.0 mm. They are planktonic, meaning they drift in the water column, and are an important part of the freshwater food chain, feeding on smaller plankton and being preyed upon by larger organisms.
