Mediterranean Cup Coral [Phyllangia americana americana]

Description
The Mediterranean Cup Coral is native to the Mediterranean Sea but has been introduced to the Atlantic coasts of Spain and Portugal. It prefers hard substrates and can be found in a wide range of depths, from shallow waters to depths of over 100 meters. This species is a solitary coral and is most often found in caves or under overhangs. The colonies are small and the polyps are usually white or pale in color.
