Madeiran Storm Petrel [Oceanodroma castro jabejabe]
Description
The Madeiran Storm Petrel, or Oceanodroma castro jabejabe, is a subspecies of the Band-rumped Storm Petrel. It is known for its two distinct breeding seasons, one 'hot' and one 'cold', which has led to significant physical and genetic differences between the two breeding populations. It is similar in appearance to the Band-rumped Storm Petrel, but slightly smaller with differences in the coloration and pattern of the plumage. The Madeiran Storm Petrel is endemic to the Madeira Archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean.
