Longjaw squirrelfish [Sargocentron spiniferum]
Description
The Longjaw squirrelfish (Sargocentron spiniferum) is a marine species that can grow up to 50 cm in length. This species is nocturnal and prefers to live in caves and crevices in lagoons and seaward reefs. Its distinguishing features include its long snout, large eyes, and the spines on the opercle and preopercle which are venomous.
