Longfin Lanternfish [Athorybia longiceps]

Description
The Longfin Lanternfish, or Athorybia longiceps, belongs to the Myctophidae family. They are widely distributed in the tropical and subtropical areas of the Atlantic Ocean. Just like other species in the Myctophidae family, this species displays vertical migration behavior, moving to surface waters at night to feed and retreating to the depths during the day. The species is characterized by its elongated dorsal and anal fins, and bioluminescent photophores.
