Largescale Pipefish [Repomucenus huguenini]
Description
The Largescale Pipefish is a marine fish species native to the Northwest Pacific region, particularly the waters of Japan and the East China Sea. They inhabit shallow waters with rich vegetation and sandy bottoms. They use their tube-like mouths to suck small crustaceans and other prey straight off the ocean floor. Being a relatively large species of pipefish, they are easily distinguished by their size and the unique scale patterns on their body.
