Japanese Tanaid Shrimp [Kalliapseudes japonicus]

Description
This species is endemic to the marine waters around Japan. It is a small crustacean with a long, slender body, similar in appearance to K. schubartii. It is distinguished by its slightly shorter pereopods and its more brightly colored body, which ranges from orange to red. Like other members of its genus, it resides in burrows in sandy or muddy substrates and feeds on detritus and small invertebrates.
