Description
The Japanese Scallop is native to the northwestern Pacific Ocean, particularly around Japan, Korea, and Russia. It inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms at depths of 5 to 30 meters. The species has a round, fan-shaped shell that can reach up to 15 centimeters in diameter. It is light cream to brown in color, with a slightly purple interior. The Japanese Scallop is a popular seafood item in East Asian cuisine.
