Description
The Japanese Basket Cockle, also known as the California cockle, is a species of marine bivalve mollusk in the family Cardiidae. It is native to the Northwestern Pacific, from Japan to the Bering Sea. It has a strongly ribbed shell, up to 7cm in length, which is usually white or cream in color but can have brown or purple markings. The species inhabits sandy or muddy substrates in shallow waters.
