Ijima's lancelet [Ijimaiella ventalina]

Description
Ijima's lancelet, scientifically known as Ijimaiella ventalina, is a species of lancelet in the family Branchiostomatidae. It is a marine species that is commonly found in the western Pacific Ocean, notably around Japan. They are small, eel-like creatures that usually burrow in sand or mud on the ocean floor. Ijima's lancelet is characterized by its segmentation which is visible on the sides of the body, a notochord which extends the length of the body, and a dorsal nerve cord.
