Description
Bathyphysa conifera, also known as the giant siphonophore, is a species of siphonophore, a group of animals related to the jellyfish. It is found in deep sea environments, typically at depths of 700 to 1000 meters. It is distinguished by its long, threadlike body, which can reach lengths of up to 30 meters. Unlike other siphonophores, which are typically colonial organisms, Bathyphysa conifera is a solitary species.
