Giant pen shell [Pinna nobilis]

Description
The giant pen shell is a species of marine bivalve molluscs. It is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea, where it lives with its posterior end buried in the sediment. It can reach up to 120 cm in length. The shell is thin but strong, fan-shaped, and brownish on the outside with a smooth surface.
