Gaillard's Cone [Conus gaillardi]
Description
Also known as Gaillard's Cone, this marine gastropod mollusk belongs to the family Conidae. It is characterized by its medium-sized, heavy shell which features a low spire and broad body whorl. The shell is cream in color with large brown patches. Found in the Pacific Ocean, specifically in the waters off the Philippines, this snail is a benthic creature that prefers sandy or muddy substrates. It is a venomous species, using a harpoon-like radula tooth to paralyze its prey.
