Fragile Red Sponge [Dragmacidon fragilis]

Description
The Fragile Red Sponge is a marine sponge found in the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico. It prefers hard, rocky substrates and is often found in crevices and caves. It is bright red in color, with a fragile, compressible body that can reach up to 30 cm in height. The surface is strongly conulose. It feeds by filtering microscopic plankton and other organic particles from the water.
