Flightless Cormorant [Phalacrocorax harrisi]
Description
The Flightless Cormorant, also known as the Galapagos Cormorant, is a unique species of cormorant that is unable to fly. It is native to the Galapagos Islands in Ecuador. This bird is characterized by its small wings, long neck, and strong legs. It has a body length of approximately 100 cm and it weighs between 2.5 to 5 kg. It has a dark brown to black plumage and bright turquoise eyes. The Flightless Cormorant feeds on a diet of fish and eels, which it hunts by diving underwater. The bird is known for its peculiar courtship ritual which involves the male displaying its tiny wings to the female.
