Far Eastern Brook Lamprey [Lethenteron kessleri]
Description
The Far Eastern Brook Lamprey is a non-parasitic species found in rivers and lakes in northeastern Asia. Like other lampreys, they have an eel-like body, round, sucker-like mouth, and a single dorsal fin. They primarily feed on organic detritus and small invertebrates found in the sediment. They spend their larval stage in burrows in muddy substrates before transforming into adults.
