Description
The European Sea Pineapple, scientifically known as Depastrum cyathiforme, is a colonial species of hydroid that falls under the family Sertulariidae. It is often found in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, and the Mediterranean Sea. It forms colonies on other organisms, such as seaweeds and seagrasses. Each polyp has a cup-shaped theca and produces medusae. It is characterized by its yellow to brownish color and its bell-shaped polyps.
