Dwarf lancelet [Ijimaiella neocurtisi]

Description
The dwarf lancelet, or Ijimaiella neocurtisi, is another species in the family Branchiostomatidae. Similar to Ijima's lancelet, the dwarf lancelet is a benthic species that inhabits sandy or muddy bottoms of the ocean. It is named 'dwarf' due to its small size compared to other lancelets. The dwarf lancelet is generally found in the waters around Japan, the Yellow Sea, and the East China Sea. It is characterized by its small size, segmentation, and the presence of a notochord and dorsal nerve cord.
