Deepsea anglerfish [Bathyaploactis longigula]
Description
Bathyaploactis longigula, or the deepsea anglerfish, is a species of fish that belongs to the family Oneirodidae. It is predominantly found in the Atlantic Ocean. This species lives in the deep sea and is known for its luminescent lure that it uses to attract prey. The deepsea anglerfish is characterized by its large mouth, sharp teeth, and light-producing organ called a photophore. The males are much smaller than the females and attach themselves to the females for reproduction.
