Description
Also known as the swimming sea cucumber, the deep-sea umbrella is a species of sea cucumber usually found in the deep sea. Its body is transparent and gelatinous. It has a unique umbrella-shaped mouth and webbed swimming structures at one end of its body. It feeds on detritus and small organisms on the seafloor. The deep-sea umbrella exhibits bioluminescence, which can be seen as it swims. This species is often found in deep-sea environments, typically at depths of 1000-5000 meters.
