Description
Thenea abyssorum, or Deep-sea mud sponge, is a species of demosponge that lives in the deep sea. This species is known for its distinctive tube-shaped body structure, which can be up to 30 cm tall. The sponge is typically brown or grey in color, and it has a rough, uneven surface. It is found in the Northeast Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea, usually inhabiting muddy bottoms at depths ranging from 1000 to 4000 meters. Not much is known about its behavior due to its deep-sea habitat.
