Corbitella Sand Dollar [Corbitella corbula]

Description
Corbitella corbula, commonly referred to as the Corbitella Sand Dollar, is a species of sea urchin in the order Clypeasteroida. These echinoderms are characterized by their flattened, round bodies, which resemble coins, hence the common name 'Sand Dollar'. They inhabit sandy or muddy sea floors, particularly in shallow coastal waters. They move using tiny spines on their body surface, and feed on organic particles in the sediment.
