Description
The Clam worm or large lugworm species is found mainly in the North Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the colder regions. It lives in U-shaped burrows in sandy or muddy substrates. The species is characterized by its large size, often reaching lengths of up to 40 cm. It has a robust body, brownish to dark green in color with a lighter underside. Like its Pacific cousin, it also plays a crucial role in the ecosystem by helping in sediment turnover.
