Chinese Pond Heron [Ardeola bacchus]
Description
This species is a 47 cm long bird. In breeding plumage, it has largely grey wings with brownish wingtips, a white back, and a deep orange-red neck and head. The non-breeding plumage is not well documented but appears to be similar to that of the Indian and Javan pond herons. It is found in shallow freshwater marshes, lakes, rivers, and fish ponds.
