Cape Verde Storm Petrel [Oceanodroma jabejabe]
Description
The Cape Verde Storm Petrel, or Oceanodroma jabejabe, is a species that was formerly considered a subspecies of the Band-rumped Storm Petrel, but is now often treated as a separate species. It is a small, dark storm petrel with a square tail and a white band on the rump. It is endemic to the Cape Verde Islands, where it breeds in burrows on cliffs or amongst rocks. The Cape Verde Storm Petrel feeds at sea on small fish and squid, which it catches from the water surface.
