Cape Gannet [Morus capensis]
Description
The Cape Gannet is a large seabird of the gannet family, Sulidae. Adults are about 90 cm (35 in) in length, and weigh between 2.3 and 3.2 kg (5.1 and 7.1 lb). Cape Gannets have a mostly white body, with a yellowish head and black tail and wing tips. They are found off the coast of South Africa, where they breed in large colonies on islands. Cape Gannets feed on fish and squid, locating their prey from high above the water and diving into the sea to catch them.
