Bullhead Shark [Heterodontus francisci]

Description

Also known as the Horn Shark, it is a species of Bullhead shark, family Heterodontidae. It is endemic to the coastal waters off the western coast of North America, from California to the Gulf of California. This species is generally nocturnal, hiding within crevices during the day. Young sharks tend to have a more varied diet, and they gradually start eating more hard-shelled molluscs as they grow. The Horn Shark has a short, blunt head with ridges over its eyes, two high dorsal fins with large spines, and a brown or gray coloration with many small dark spots.
