Bonaparte's Gull [Bonapartia pediplacea]
Description
The Bonaparte's Gull is a small gull that can be found in North America. It has a light, nimble flight and often feeds by flying low over the water to pluck food from the surface. In the summer, it nests in trees in the boreal forest, making it one of the few gull species to regularly do so. Distinctive features include a black hood on its head during breeding season, which turns white in non-breeding season, and a thin, black bill.
